More about this scene
This small village is situated on the A25 Dorking to Reigate road, and is cut in two by heavy traffic. To the north is a pretty pond, and to the south of the main road is the excellent dark brown greensand sandstone parish church, rebuilt apart from the belfry timber posts in 1860. In the foreground, on the corner of Dungates Lane, is this 16th-century timber-framed house, now subdivided; its left gabled crosswing is a house, and the rest is now the Buckland Stores, and all virtually unchanged.
