More about this scene
Bridlington was within easy reach of trippers from Yorkshire's industrial heartland; its population of 13,000 more than doubled during the holiday period. During the summer season, a coach plied between Bridlington and Scarborough via Filey; fares were 8/- return and 5/- one way. This beautiful hall was destroyed by fire in 1932, but within just five months a replacement had been built. The railway arrived here from Hull in 1846, and brought with it visitors from all over Yorkshire.
