More about this scene
There is no known record of the history or appearance of this castle, which is situated eight miles south-west of Cardiff. Barry is thought to have been a 14th-century fortified manorial residence; but all that remained in 1899 was the ivy-clad ruins of a small gatehouse or barbican and a section of curtain wall. As can be seen here, the ruins had been incorporated into a farm building.
