I grew up in Wembley, late 60’s to early 80’s. used to hang around the high road a lot . Who remembers a trendy shop called Screws ,it had like a coffee/cafeteria downstairs anc a record booth that you could listen to before you bought an album or record. Also hanging around The Square and going to the Village Inn , The Captains Table and happy just happy times
Wembley was a wonderful place to live and go to school. Even now into my 60's I can remember all the shops (not all their names) all the roads, all the back alleys. Growing up near the Wembley Triangle I lived here from 1957 until finally leaving the area in 1983. I was born in the High Street( not the High Road) in 1950 moving to Rugby Avenue in 1953. I lived opposite Graham Rose. I recall the Sudbury Motors Garage. They had Morgan 3 wheelers and drove them up and down Rugby Avenue. Happy memories of Barham Park and Vale Farm swimming pool.
I remember every summer holidays staying in a caravan with my brothers and sisters at our dads builders merchants. Every day we would go to the triangle and get fresh baked bread from garners and try not to eat it on the way back and avoid the cars coming down the ramp from sainsburys..it was a fun time..and we used to go to a shop up the road and get milkshakes but i cant remember the name..
