The Good Old Days

A Memory of Pickering.

Not seen this picture for a long , long time . When I lived up POTTER HILL I used to go this way to get to the ROOKER'S . From POTTER HILL you headed towards BECON PARK , then branched off right , along a lane , think it was called COULTMAN'S CUT , that led to where this photo was taken , looking toward's the RAILWAY and the CASTLE . I used to go this way to play at the ROOKER'S , and we went to roll our easter egg's this same way . The last time I visited this view , the field was all overgrown , and full of litter , as the children used it as a short cut to LADY LUMLEY'S SCHOOL . I am NEIL CHAMBERLAIN , better known as CHIBBY CHAMBERLAIN and was born at 53 POTTER HILL in 1949 .
