Always Think Of It As Home.
A Memory of Dovercourt.
I was born in Dovercourt hospital 24th December 1959. I lived above the Home and Colonial shop in the high street where my lovely Dad Mr. Roe was manager. My lovely mum Margaret often used to work there when my sister's Bren and Chris and my brother Brian were at school. These were the best years of my life. We had to move up to London for my Dad to take over a shop in Caledonian Road in 1969. What a dreadful upheaval it was, one I'll never forget. We hated it after the wonderful summers and even bitterly cold winters we spent in my " Dovercourt" it holds the very best memories for all my family although sadly my mum and Dad have now passed my sisters, brother and myself all live within 10 minutes of each other! Does anyone remember us. Harwich county primary, bath side infants and the sad school as it was known back then were our schools. My best friend was Trudy Watson who lived in harbour Cresent. The Cliff pavilion was our favourite haunt and Dad used to work in the cliff hotel in the evenings and weekends behind the bar to earn extra money. Oh take me back😟 the world was certainly a better place back then . Susan Margaret Stapleton nee Roe
