Yateley, The Village Green And St Peter's Church 1906

More about this scene
Some fascinating reminders of village life a century ago crop up in this charming picture. In the foreground is a sign for The Dog and Partridge Hotel, and just to the right of it in the background are the premises of the steam bakery. Next door is the church, with its tower supported by sturdy 15th-century beams. The clock was made in Cromwell's time, and the lychgate dates back over 300 years.
