Wrotham, Old Palace Photo

A Memory of Wrotham.

In doing family history research I discovered my Grandfather, George Crowhurst, was born and grew up in this beautiful home from 1895 til 1920. His father, Isaac, leased the house and the land to farm. They lived on the farm until Isaac's passing at which time George's mother took the remaining family to live at Whiffen Farm with Jacob Crowhurst (I assume Isaac's brother) until her passing at which time my Grandfather came to Canada. It is on my bucket list to get to England one day and photo the house myself. I have a photo of it hanging in my living room at present showing all his siblings in the photo (he wasn't born at the time of the photo). Thanks to the Francis Frith website I now also have a copy of this photo and there are difference to the house which helped date the age of the photo I have. The photo I have in my living room the house no longer had the end wing at the right of the photo. The tree is still there but not the fenced in area in front of the house. My photo also shows a door half way down the house on the lower floor. In my photo the exact same gate down at the kitchen end of the house is still there. My dream is to be able to walk the yard he walked, see the views he grew up with and if I'm lucky enough to be able to touch the door that dates from the 1100's and see the well in the back.
