More about this scene
The Victorian Gothic mansion of Tortworth Court, with its distinctive welcoming gatehouse, was built in the mid 19th century following the elevation to the peerage of the first Earl of Dulcie in 1837, and became the family seat. It was taken over by the Admiralty during the Second World War, and part of the surrounding estate was subsequently transformed into Layhill Prison. The mansion is now being developed as a luxury hotel.
