More about this scene

Baldock Street leads northwards out of Ware towards Thundridge. The higgledy-piggledy row of pubs, shops and dwellings has hardly changed over the years. The driver climbing out of his Morris 8 Series E is parked outside one of the many cafes in Baldock Street (centre right) - this one used to be the Golden Boot public house and sported a giant hanging metal gold-painted knee-boot sign. Next door was the Royston Crow, and opposite was the Bull's Head, which is still open for business today.

History Mischief
It was a Friday and it was period seven. I decided I would wind up my history teacher by leaning back on my chair pretending to be in a race car ,well it didn't go to plan. I fell backward on my chair, it went straight under the table, I banged my head but I still laughed, then I was sent outside. Ware Swimming Pool
I spent great times as a boy in the swimming pool which always showed the water temperature on a board outside the entrance ( sometimes 50F ). Our favourite activity was doing bombs off the top board and soaking anyone who was near to the edge. Leaving Ware Grammar School
My elder sister and I both went to Ware Grammar School. My sister Christine Beattie from 1953 to 1956 and me, Catherine (Rena) Beattie from 1955 to 1956. Genealogy & Research Images

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
