Shops In Upminster

A Memory of Upminster.

Great site, so,pleased to find it. Lived in Cranham for 15 years and just loved Upminster for shopping, a particular favorite being Roomes. I left the area about 15 years ago and went back to visit a short while ago. Still in shock, so many of the smaller shops are gone, felt so sad, it is not,the Upminster that lived on in my memory. I used to love going in to a small hardware store, opposite the Roomes clothing store/make up etc that is still there. You could buy gardening stuff, brooms, small gifts, garden ornaments, a whole array of items, vases, etc. Gone now, and worst of all I can't even remember the name, been searching may memory banks and the name evades me. Can anyone else remember that little shop. I used to,go in there every Wednesday. Still like the area and the windmill, park etc., but other things have changed so much. So many good memories of living there, those were the days. just feel sad at so many changes, especially in the High Street and Station Road.mmthanks for such a great site, makes me feel so nostalgic. Long may Upminster retrain its beauty and appeal.
