More about this scene
Taxal is a small village south of Whaley Bridge, lying in a cul-de-sac overlooking the lovely Goyt Valley. Its mainly 19th-century parish church of St James, which we see here in its wooded setting, is in the diocese of Chester, recalling the fact that the village was in Cheshire until local government re-organisation transferred it to Derbyshire in 1936.
