More about this scene
We are looking from the west end of Market Hill into Friars Street. Agricultural machinery and fruit and vegetables are set out for sale in front of Frederick Bowles's milliner's and draper's. His shop was to be replaced within a year by the Westminster Bank. On the right is Robert Mattingley's clothing and boot warehouse, and the Anchor, kept by Robert Angier.
