Working At Strode Manor

A Memory of Strode Manor.

My Grandparents worked at Strode Manor Farm in the early 1900's. My Uncle their eldest son was the carter there until 1916 when he joined the army and went to Belgium, he was killed at Passchendaele in 1917. The Family all lived at Strode Cottages on the Netherbury road.

Comments & Feedback

I would be interested to know who owned Strode Manor in my Grandparents day, anyone know.
I just came across your comment. Strode Manor House was in the Gollop family for over a hundred years, from the time of the Armada. George Tilly Gollop died in 1889, I believe, and the manor was passed to him by his father when he was just two and his father died. George lived to about 98. One of my distant ancestors married him late in life and their twin children survived them. Here’s a link to a book on them but you won’t have any problem finding information now that you know the name. Hope this makes it to you! Enjoy!
