Southport, Thatched Cottages 1914

More about this scene
In an area that once relied on agriculture and fishing, thatched cottages were once a common sight. Indeed, some of the early 'villas' built at Southport were in fact little more than up-market thatched residences. There was a group of thatched cottages at Westward and others in old Churchtown and at Birkdale.
