What A Surprise!
A Memory of Sidcup.
Mine isn't actually a memory of Flat 53b because I was much too young to remember the place but, wait for it, I am the baby sister who was born there in 1946. Yes, that is amazingly true and I still have the picture that my sister Hazel sent to me boxed away with other photographs and memories. The funniest thing is that Hazel didn't ever tell me in any of her correspondences that she had posted this to the site and the only reason I have found it 8 years after it was posted is because of my new home and an urge that came along with it to see what the outlook from my birth home was like. So here I am having found my sister's original posting and the picture posted with it. I haven't even looked at any of the links that came up when I googled my query but went straight to this one. I am still in a state of amazement but there is more. I have a copy of my sister's last email here in front of me because my main job for today was to reply to it and the only way I find I can manage this is to print the email so that I have it in front of me. I think my sister is in for one big shock too when I tell her about this. It has made me feel so very near her despite the many miles between us and, I may add, quite emotional. It is like we were together in flat 53b and now we are together in my new home. Thank you Francis Frith. Through you, after a tough twelve months you have made 2017 end on a happy note.
