More about this scene
The hotel was built by the London and North Western Railway Company for travellers from London to Scotland. At that time, around 1860, it was considered bad for your health to attempt the whole journey without an overnight stop half-way, which happened to be at Preston. The Park Hotel cost £46,000 to build; it was designed by Mr A Mitchell.
