More about this scene
Inside, the late 12th-century arcade has four bays, circular piers, octagonal abaci, and capitals with decorated trumpet scallops. Pevsner describes the large font with its powerful mouldings as a truly amazing example of about the 13th century, made of black Tournai marble. The font may have been removed from Marlborough Castle, as St George's was the parish church for the castle.
