More about this scene
Reputedly founded in 1189, the famous Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem Inn claims to be the oldest in England. The present buildings are 17th- century at the earliest, with an 18th-century taller left bay. It incorporates cellars cut into the sandstone of Castle Hill. Behind it now is the Brewhouse Yard Museum (of Nottingham life), opened in 1977, and the Angel Row Gallery, both housed in a row of brick houses of about 1680.
