Mothers and daughters take advantage of the excellent views of the Severn afforded them from the churchyard of St Peter's. A church is known to have existed at Newnham in 1080, but it was relocated to its present site by 1380 to avoid flooding; some of the stone was salvaged and used in the rebuilding.
