This once sleepy hamlet was first home to me, a better place for childhood there could not be. My father, William Tom Stallard, was manager here 1946 to 1958.He was previously manager at the Btooklands Hotel, Sale, Manchester 1937 (?) to 1941.~ The youngest in the company. He married in 1938. He enlisted in the RASC as a Captain in 1941. I am his eldest son, born 1941. The family managed various hotels when their managers were on holiday. i.e.'The Swan' at Leighton Buzzard. 1964 - Mortimer Road, Buntingsdale Park, Market Drayton. I lived briefly in Mortimer Road as a toddler with my parents and older brother. My father was a Flight Lieutenant stationed at RAF Tern Hill from sometime between late 1962 or 1963. On March 25th, 1964, he was instructing a trainee helicopter pilot. My father worked in the officers mess at Buntingsdale and every Christmas they used to hold a Christmas party for the workers children..They were great parties and I have good memories of Buntingsdale lake and woods as I used to go from Dalelands West and go fishing in the lake.. they were good days .
