I am currently researching my family history, and my grandparents lived at Kirkham Caravan Park around 1952/53. They lived in a small caravan and had their first child, (my mum) at Lytham St Annes Hospital. I have photos of the caravan they lived in, but I am struggling to find any information on any caravan parks in the area. I was sent to stay at Ormorod House in 1953 or 1954 for 4weeks recuperation following a tonsillectomy because we lived in condemned property at the time. The journey from Walsall took forever, I was 7 years old and very home sick all the time. Me and my brother went to this home around 1954. I would be 7 and he would be 9; we went on the train from Rochdale. I remember mother giving my older brother 2 half crowns - 5 bob for sweets to last a fortnight. I also remember watching someone peeling tats by putting them in a big drum with sharp edges and turning it like a mangle. We lived in Preston, Lancashire from 1944 to 1956 and often came here for the day on the bus. My mother preferred Lytham to Blackpool and we spent happy hours on the sands. This picture, taken before the 1st World War, is a view which my father would have seen when he came here as a child - I have a couple of photos of him on the sands with his mother and sister.
