More about this scene
We are looking at the medieval Cobb harbour (centre) from the tennis ground on the cliffs south of Langmoor Gardens. Bay Cottage (left) provided the real-life original for Jane Austen's character Captain Harville in her novel 'Persuasion'. Further along Marine Parade is the coastguard station (right) opposite the Custom House, the latte replacing an earlier building in the middle of the town which burned down in 1844.
