My Family Worked In Ozalid
A Memory of Loughton.
We moved to Foxley Close in July 1968 from Manford Way, Chigwell, where we'd been living in a prefab for 4yrs. Moving to what was known then as a "double prefab" was definitely a move up for our family of 5. My parents, my brother (10yrs), me (8yrs) and our sister (6yrs).
My dad had just returned from 6 months in Canada where he was working and my mum started working at Ozalid in Loughton. After my dad returned he too started working at Ozalids as did my 2 Uncles and my Aunt.
My mum worked there till 1970, when she got a job at The Bank of England. We were only in Debden for a short while, before moving to Ilford in Sept 1970, when my parents bought their first house.
