More about this scene
The New Gaiety Theatre on the left opened in 1903 after the old theatre had been demolished to make way for the Aldwych on the left. Later, successful musicals were produced here during the First World War, and Jack Hulbert and Cecily Courtneidge appeared at the 1,338-seat theatre. The building was demolished in 1957.
