More about this scene
Chaundlers, with multiple gables (left), now divided into cottages, is the oldest timber-framed building in Linton. One cottage has the remains of the 15th-century open hall. The tall house on the right has fire rings at eaves height for ladders to be tied to the wall. A serious fire in Linton was witnessed by Charles Darwin when he was a student.
