Lindfield, The Tudor Barn c.1955

More about this scene
Mrs Horsefield was just as enterprising as her husband; she opened a meat-free restaurant in Haywards Heath, which became very popular. Her next enterprise was to convert the adjacent Elizabethan barn into a tearoom, which gave adults the chance to keep an eye on the children whilst also catching up with the latest news. In this photograph, business seems to be brisk! By the mid 1970s, the mill had stopped working, and the both the mill and barn are now private residences.
