Good Not So Good

A Memory of Leytonstone.

My name is Helena née Rich I used to love living in Leytonstone until my brother Harry died a tragic death when he was only 13. He went to Norlington School. I went to Newport Junior. We lived in Hainault Road. I can still remember the United Dairy - we lived opposite. Up the road was where the the 236 buses used to park. We had family living in Bulwer Road but after Harry died we moved around a bit. I now live in Perth, West Australia but there are times I wish I could go back in time to see places I remember, and people too.

Hello Helena, I was surprised and pleased to see your name come up on this site. You may not remember me, my name is Pamela Cooper (nee Perry born 1946

) and lived in Sidmouth Road Leyton and went to Newport Road School, my clearest memory is of you and I apparently scheduled to have a fight in the playground and all the other kids crowding around us, this fight had been talked about for a few days and I Was pretty scared, and had no idea how it had come about, we didn't even know each very well. thankfully peace reigned and we became friends for a short while ( I was born on 1946 and might be a bit older and left to go to McEntee school, in the meantime we got friendly enough for me to visit your house in Hainault Rd , I Think it was in the holidays and just the two were of us there and maybe your brother. Not sure but I I think your mum and Dad were working.

Anyway we lost touch and I was very sad for you and your family when I heard you brother had died.
you may not remember me, but I have remembered you over the years most recently whe ai saw a Helena Rich on our local Universaty of third age list and rang her to see if she was You!
you must have made a big impression on me at the time as it was quite a short friendship...
