More about this scene
In 1891 the first experiments in England using overhead wiring for electric trams took place on the Roundhay Park route. There were problems caused by the tramway using an earth return for the traction current, and so the line opened using steam tram engines. The electrified route between Kirkstall and Roundhay opened in August 1897.
