More about this scene
To the left of Symons, the jewellers (now Castle Jewellers) is the small opening of Sandford Timewells Lane, a narrow cobbled alley which cuts through to Castle Dyke and feels as though it should once have been the haunt of footpads and cutpurses. The white notice outside Symons advertises the services of Mr William Symons, the optician who visited from Tavistock every Tuesday and Saturday.
