More about this scene
The original castle at Inveraray was built about 1520. The 3rd Duke of Argyll decided to build a new castle; Roger Morrison was the architect, and William Adam was the clerk of works. The new site was about 80 yards from the old castle. Work began in 1743 and ended in 1770. The old castle was demolished in 1773.
