Happy Old Pupil

A Memory of Hexham.

I am now 83. When I was 11 I was a pupil at Dukes house. I visited there yesterday and remembered the happy times; I remember Mr Scott, the Headmaster, a well liked man by all of us. I tried to get down to Swallowship but having almost got there we gave up having been advised by a very nice young lady walking her dogs that it was a difficult walk due to all the recent rains. I remember also the time when we were quarantined because of an epidemic of sorts and we all hung over the gates and tried to breath on people as they passed, we were just boys but I will now say sorry for all of us who were there in around 1940 1942.
