More about this scene

Built about 1726, in the early 20th century High House was a co-educational boarding school founded by Harry Lowerinson. In 1926 it was taken over by the Workers Travel Association and used as holiday accommodation until the Second World War, when it became a billet for Polish troops. Reverting to holiday accommodation after the war it fell into disrepair, and its grounds were used for housing development in the mid 1970s.

I have no personal memories of the Heacham, High House but I'm researching my Rolfe Family. I live in America and I am pretty sure the photo posted of the Heacham, High House c 1955 is actually Heacham Hall, the Family home of the Rolfe Family. I have found, on the internet, that Heacham Hall was destroyed by fire in 1941. Is this true? I am hoping that it is still extant and would like to visit ...see more
