More about this scene
Here we see a knife grinder at work in this atmospheric picture of a deserted Hartfield. It is a delightful village on the northern edge of Ashdown Forest above the river Medway. Today Hartfield is best known for its association with Winnie-the-Pooh, whose creator, A A Milne, lived for many years at nearby Cotchford Farm.
