Horrible Place

A Memory of Hampstead.

We were there from 69 - 72. I say we. Me & my four sisters, Denise, Pauline, Joan, Isable & me June HASTIE.
Anderson & Dunlop were vile. Scrubbing the floors until they were gleeming. We used to do that when we got home from school. Cleaning the bathroom. They use to make me clean behind the door where they would keep going in & out so the door would hit me. Testing the bath water to see if it was hot enough by making you stand in it.... Red hot water. It use to burn my legs.
As for the sweets on a Saturday night in the common room! You had to offer them your sweets first.. They normally took the lot.
If you made any noise at night after bed time they would make you stand in the corridor all night facing the wall.
The only food I like was egg & chips. Breakfast was discussing. Cleaning the dorm before you went to school & putting those rainbow bedspreads on just for the day. I hated it there. I was 5 years old & cried every time we were taken back there. A few names I remember. Alison Prescot. The whites, they were sisters. Della loyed.
As for Anderson & Dunlop, i have often wondered what I would say to them if I ever saw them again.
Vile place!
June Langley (Hastie)
