More about this scene
Oh dear, oh dear! Very little of this pleasant scene is still in being. The bus driver told me after he had seen the photograph that 'it's all under Wilkinson's'. And he was correct. What is left is partially pedestrianised, and a few of the buildings are still there, but not many. The 18th-century Tivoli Tavern (the white building, centre left), formerly the Globe, is still there, but the buildings on the left are no more, having being replaced by Devonshire House. Because so much change has taken place, the Bull Ring was not recognisable; when I asked where it was, the answer came 'You're standing in it !'
