Grantham, Avenue Road 1904

More about this scene
East from St Peter's Hill, Avenue Road descends towards the River Witham, lined by middle-class late Victorian semi-detached villas. There are now fewer trees, and several of the houses are offices or hotels. At the left is the rock-faced stone St Peter's Hill United Reformed Church of 1869. Many of the villas beyond are of round about that date.
