Golders Green 70s/80s
A Memory of Golders Green.
I was born in Temple Fortune in 1972 and moved to Golders Green in 1973. I remember shopping in Woolworths which was next door to the library, it was a huge branch and sold plants and seeds at the back. There was a pet shop at the end of the alley way near Woolworths where my sister and I used to buy pet tortoises! Then there was MacFisheries a bit further along.
I loved the smell coming from the coffee shop on Golders Green Road near the junction of Hoop Lane. And the ladies wear shop Franks, it had a huge window display you could walk round, it even had a mirror! Dayvilles Ice Cream shop (Tiger Stripe was the best flavour!), Our Price records and McDonalds arrived in the early 80s. Ballet classes in Hodford Road church hall. Happy days!
