More about this scene
St Peter's was originally a chapel of ease to Cartmel Priory, and was consecrated by the Bishop of Chester on 30 June 1745. By 1880 the original building was in disrepair, and it was decided to replace it by the present church, which was designed by Paley & Austin of Lancaster. It is built of red sandstone in the Decorated style.
