The Former Post Office (Later Rivers Dale House) The Street, Eversley, 1970's
A Memory of Eversley.
As I have outlined on this site before, I lived in The Street, Eversley from 1971 - 83. The house in which we lived, built in 1952 by a Mr & Mrs Leversuch, no longer exists as following a murder there in 1992, the house was empty for 4 years before being demolished. 2 house stand on what was an acre plot.
From 1952 to 1981, the sizeable, detached red brick house with outbuilding was the village Post Office. My Mother - still with us - was the Post Mistress from 1971 - 1981. My parents sold the house in 1982.
In 1977, to celebrate the Queens silver jubilee, a local photographer named Ian Murray took photographs of a lot of properties in Eversley, including our house, the then Post Office. The house wasn't exactly an arcitectual gem but my Mother had the photograph made into post cards, for reasons best known to herself.
I would love to have one of the postcards as a memory of a family home which no longer exists. I remember boxes of them were produced yet nobody in the family has one. If anyone could help by pointing me in the right direction, I'd be very grateful
