The tide is in, and the sea is a millpond fringed by bathing machines in this view looking from the lawns east of the Wish Tower. On the left is the old Sea View Hotel, which was replaced in the 1970s by the dismal tower of the Transport and General Workers Union Holiday and Conference Centre.
