The Globe Cinema, Deepcut.
A Memory of Deepcut.
As a young child I spent a lot of time with my father in The Globe AKC cinema in the early 1960’s. At that time it was in Deepcut camp & was used by soldiers based in the camp. My father was the projectionist & although I used to amuse myself each evening while he was working I remember watching many films. The globe was a lovely old building & used to hold boxing matches before being a cinema. I remember when it was bulldozed down & my dad had to find another job. There is no evidence of the cinema left now and a housing estate is on the site where it used to be. I cannot find anything regarding the existence of the Globe on the internet & am hoping someone reading this might remember it. There must be a reference to it somewhere in a book perhaps, or a photo would be nice.
