More about this scene

This photograph was taken from the eastern end of the glen, two miles upstream from Fingle Bridge. The cliff in the centre is Sharp Tor which, unusually for Dartmoor, is shale rather than granite.

A Selection of Memories from Dartmoor

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Dartmoor

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

In the 1960s I took my parents to stay in a bungalow a short distance from the Warren House Inn. The bungalow was called The King's Oven, and we rented it for a week. It had been used as accomodation for the tin mine inspector when he visited the area. Sadly, it has since been demolished, but I can still discern where it used to be. While we were there, my father used to like to stroll up the road to the Warren House Inn for a drink.
