My mum Dorothy Fewtrell and myself Margaret use to go to the market in the mid 50s - we would come home with baby rabbits and young chickens - it was a fun time. I think I was about 13. I used to go dancing above a shop in Dartford - think the shop was a men's clothes shop the name Bolton not sure if the name but like that,I now live in Australia
I have a book available entitled 'Mayhem at the Manor', describing daily life at school and living in Dartford in 1963 when we endured one of the worst winters on record. If anyone is interested in a copy, please contact me.
Please can someone remind me of the name of the Fishing Tackle Shop in Low field Street, Dartford, where I used to join/rejoin DDA&PS each year?
From 1947 I lived in Bedford Road at the top of East Hill but my maternal grandparents lived in the prefabs at the other end of town. The name Blackmans Close sticks in my mind for some reason but I’m not sure if it’s my memory playing tricks - at the age of 75 that seems to happen at times lol. Does anyone remember if there were prefabs in Blackmans Close &, if so, whether that address still exists - I assume the prefabs ...see more
