More about this scene
Crowborough Cross, the intersection of four roads, is situated nearly 245 metres above sea level in Crowborough. Nearby is the Red Cross Hotel (now the Crowborough Cross Hotel). This former inn dates from the mid 17th century, and its name probably originates from the small red cross placed on coaching maps to denote Crowborough Cross for illiterate coachmen.
