Cowden Caravan Memories
A Memory of Cowden.
We (Nelson family) spent our summer in the 50s in a caravan on a site within walking distance to the beach and water. I have fond memories of that beach and ocean including shrimping with our big nets we pushed along the edge of the water. We brought up the buckets of shrimp to be boiled and eaten... I remember the men putting the deep sea rods in the water but don't remember catching too many fish :)- I remember waiting outside the Cross Keys pub with some crisps and a drink waiting for mom and dad .
I remember walking the paths and collecting cowslips and seeing gypsy caravans in the field. We used to walk into Hornsea ( a long haul ), and surely remember picking mushrooms in the old RAF field which was off limits...
Fond memories for sure
