Ackroyd Coffee Bar

A Memory of Clayton West.

Just down the road from the Shoulder of Mutton pub was Ackroyds coffee bar. In the 60s we young ones would meet, listen to the juke box, drinking frothy coffee. The horse and cart outside the pub belonged to Herman Wood the local milkman. The cart was a daily sight outside the pub.

Hello David, remember me I'm John Bellwood. Yes I remember Ackroyds coffee bar, I used to stop off on a Saturday after mt paper round- you know, n the days when we had to collect money!! Imagine that nowadays - would we really be mugged!! Happy days! I can remember Herman singing 'Beautiful Dreamer' at the top of his voice on his milk round. He would then drink four pints of Guinness in the Shoulder before going home for lunch!
