Note the rough road surface, which had not yet been modernised with tarmacadam. In summer the dust would fly as horses and carts pressed their way through, and in winter the rains would turn it into a quagmire. On the right is Colman Stores – 'China and Glass, Furniture'. On the other side there is another shop; the notices outside advertise a farm auction and stock for sale.
