I go and see an old lady each week and she has just written her life story, Veronika Davis she was Veronika Lengyel, in her life story she went to the Chew Magna, Manor House, Sacred Heart High School, she was there from 1949 until 1951, she is not online and she wanted to know if anyone on here went as a boarder in these years as she would like to contact any one, if there is anyone let me know and I can pass on her details.
We came to visit Chew Magna a few years ago as my grandfather Donald Osmond was born there. We wanted to have a look in the school room next to the church as my great grandmother Julia Osmond was the Headmistress there (late 1800’s). A very nostalgic journey as members of my family are in the churchyard. Jan Hodgetts .(nee Osmond)
Looked up the above on the internet a few days ago. Good to see Ruth Ball's comments re Mother Cecilia. Had to go to her office to play for her in the midst of another class. The school looked just like it did on the photo taken in 1955. Lovely setting in beautiful grounds tended by other nuns who wore brown and were the gardeners. I cannot remember when I went to the Convent but the first class I went in was Prep 4. I believe I left school approx summer 1957. Although I was not particulary keen on school I can say I enjoyed my time there. I have at various times had news or even met some of the girls I was at school with, but as I live in Cambridgshire now and do not visit Somerset often I hear less and less. My name when ...see more
