More about this scene
The Macclesfield road rises in the distance to the bridge over the railway line, with the station and livestock market going down on the left. The Westminster Bank and the Dixon Arms were both there to serve the farmers who came to the market. The pub has recently been demolished, but it had a late hour of glory during the 1997 General Election, when it was besieged by the nation`s press as inside, the local Conservatives deliberated whether to back Neil Hamilton as their candidate for the Knutsford seat.
